Body Image Issues, Disordered Eating Behaviors and Perfectionism: Robyn Wright’s Story Pt. 2 | 016

What if your struggle with your body isn’t really about your body at all?

In part two of my conversation with Robyn Wright, faith-based wellness mentor and founder of Faithfully Living Fit, we move beyond recognizing unhealthy patterns and begin exploring how healing actually happens. Robyn shares why changing our food or exercise habits without addressing the beliefs underneath them can feel like cutting fruit off a tree while leaving the unhealthy roots untouched.

Together, we talk about uncovering the lies that have shaped our identities, grieving the messages we received about our bodies, renouncing the pursuit of thinness, and inviting God into the places where shame has kept us trapped. Robyn also explains how repentance, forgiveness, body blessing, intuitive eating, and releasing rigid food rules can help us rebuild a healthier relationship with our bodies and with food.

You’ll also hear practical ways to begin caring for yourself without falling into another perfectionistic plan. From hydration, nourishment, movement, stress management, and rest to simply choosing one small step today, this episode will remind you that healing does not require you to change everything at once. It is not about completing the journey perfectly—it is about becoming more whole as you walk in partnership with God.

This Episode Is for You If...

  • You know that God created you wonderfully, but you struggle to believe it when you look in the mirror.

  • You frequently criticize your body or believe you would finally be happy if you were thinner.

  • You feel trapped in cycles of dieting, restriction, overeating, overexercising, or starting over.

  • You know Scripture about your identity but struggle to feel that truth in your heart.

  • You have created rigid rules around food because you are afraid you cannot trust yourself.

  • You feel discouraged when old thoughts or behaviors return and assume you have made no progress.

  • You want to care for your health without turning wellness into another performance-based pursuit.

What You’ll Learn

  • How beliefs about your worth can influence your relationship with food, exercise, and your body.

  • Why healing often requires addressing emotional and spiritual roots — not only changing physical behaviors.

  • How to become curious about your inner dialogue without responding to yourself with more judgment.

  • Why grieving old wounds may be an important part of renewing your mind with God’s truth.

  • What it means to repent of the harmful words, vows, and judgments you have spoken over your body.

  • How a body blessing can help you rededicate your body to God as an instrument of life, love, and service.

  • Why releasing rigid food rules may help you develop a more peaceful and intuitive relationship with food.

  • How small, imperfectly consistent habits can move you toward lasting health and freedom.

Robyn’s Five Foundational Health Habits

Rather than beginning with the newest diet, supplement, or wellness trend, Robyn encourages women to begin with five foundational practices:

  • Eat minimally processed foods most of the time.

  • Stay adequately hydrated.

  • Learn to manage stress.

  • Move your body regularly and intentionally.

  • Prioritize rest and recovery.

These are the “big rocks” that create a foundation for other individualized health practices. The goal is not to implement all five perfectly overnight. Choose one area, begin gently, and allow your habits to grow over time.

A Practical Pause: The H.A.L.T. Method

Before automatically reaching for food, pause and ask:

  • H — Am I physically hungry?

  • A — Am I angry or anxious?

  • L — Am I lonely?

  • T — Am I tired?

Hunger can become an invitation to slow down and identify what you genuinely need. Sometimes that need is nourishment. At other times, it may be rest, water, emotional support, connection with someone safe, or time in God’s presence.

A Question to Take With You

Lord, where have I believed a lie about my body, and what truth do You want to place there instead?

You do not have to force an immediate answer. Slow down, listen, and allow God to meet you with the same gentleness He has shown you throughout your journey.
