Christian Perfectionism: When Success Steals Your Identity (Part 2 of The Hidden Identity Crisis Behind Perfectionism) | 026

What happens when your sense of identity becomes tied to how much you accomplish, how successful you appear, or how quickly you reach the next milestone? For many high-achieving Christian women, perfectionism is not simply the desire to do things well. It is a hidden struggle to prove who we are through our productivity, performance, and outward success.

In Part 2 of my conversation with April Farlow, we explore why early success can intensify perfectionism and why achieving more does not necessarily make us more secure. We talk about the pressure to keep producing, the danger of confusing an assignment with an identity, and the painful but necessary seasons in which God slows us down, strips away our self-reliance, and teaches us to operate at the pace of grace.

April shares how a difficult season within her ministry became more formative than the breakthrough that followed. Together, we discuss the test of delay, the value of showing up faithfully in the ordinary days, and the difference between output produced through striving and “obedient output” that grows from intimacy with God.

You will also hear practical ways to begin rediscovering who you are beneath the roles, responsibilities, expectations, and achievements. Because your identity is not something you earn or achieve. It is something you receive and discover in relationship with the Lord.
